Based on the text book by Hill this module introduces global business. I use consulting projects that I completed for multinational companies to see if students can get the basic information from internet sources. These case studies are real world case studies, not artificially sanitised case studies. Students might even find information that I missed when I did this for a multinational company.

The objective of the module is to provide appropriate exposure to international business management to persons already involved in or considering international business with the aim of enhancing the international managerial capability and competitiveness of business organisations.


This is not a geography course.  In order to achieve international capability and competitiveness it is important to think about how one should strategically approach a business plan in a foreign environment.  This would include quantifying and comparing options in different countries.

During the past two decades, the continuing trend towards globalisation and increased competitiveness worldwide have necessitated many business organisations to look beyond the country's borders for new opportunities to expand their markets and enhance their profitability. 

Fundamental to successful international management, however, is the understanding of the global business environment, the nature of international business operations, and, most importantly, developing viable international business strategies.

The current study of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz


The EEG measurements of the current study at the University of Mainz have been completed and evaluated. Here is the first statement after the completion of the EEG measurements:

"After completion and evaluation of all EEG measurements, we are happy to concretely confirm the results of the EEG measurements on the effect of the KOSYS language learning system neoos®. A 10-minute application of the tested language learning program is sufficient for brain areas associated with the processing of linguistic information to be activated.

The EEG data show that the Wernicke area, which is responsible for sensory language processing (language comprehension), is also activated. This is a plausible result since the subjects in the current study passively received speech. Furthermore, in the frontal area of the brain (frontal area), the working memory and attention center are activated.

The working memory is important to maintain incoming information - similar to the working memory of a computer - so that they are available for further information processing and can be integrated. Below you can see a picture of the EEG results. Shown are the sources of activation in the brain that occur as a result of using the KOSYS language learning program neoos®."
