Henry Mintzberg

Henry Mintzberg is Cleghorn Professor of Management Studies at the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he has been teaching since 1968. Professor Mintzberg is known around the world for his tremendous contribution to strategy and organization (20 books and more than 180 mentioned articles). He has also contributed to new teaching approaches for executives, particularly by creating the International Masters in Practicing Management (I. M. P. M.) as well as the International Masters for Health Leadership (I. M. H. L.).

Professor Mintzberg has been elected to the Order of Canada and l’Ordre Nationale du Quebec as well as to the Royal Society of Canada (the first from a management faculty), has written two prize-winning Harvard Business Review articles, and has received twenty honorary degrees from universities around the world.

During his workshop at the Global Humanistic University, he will address the topic of schools of thought in strategy, discuss a simplification model to organize such schools and explain how to develop a complete expertise in strategy.

Stéphane Coudé

Besides being the Dean of the Summer School of the Global Humanistic University and a professor at the GHU, Prof. Dr. Coudé is a senior consultant in strategy and international marketing specialized in B2B and B2G. He works mainly for his clients in North America, Europe, China and the Caribbean in the following fields: IT, Telecom, Banking and Insurance, Multimedia and Entertainment, Distribution Networks, and Electric Energy. He has also taught master programs at several universities as well as provided several in-company training courses for executives.

Prof. Dr. Stéphane Coudé holds an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude) specialized in organizational strategy from the Paris Dauphine University, a Post-MBA from the Harbin Institute of Technology in Shenzhen as well as a double diploma EMBA/MBA from Paris Dauphine University and Université du Québec in Montréal. He has published books and articles related to government purchasing, government procurement agreements, and negotiations and failures of foreign multinational companies in China.

During the summer school, he will be present in most activities and workshops and will co-teach some of them as well as act as a coach.

Michael Underdown

Univ.-Prof. Dr Underdown, LLB, LLM, dipl dr comp, Grad Dip Legal Prac, MA, PhD, studied Law and Oriental Studies in Australia, Belgium, Portugal and Germany.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of South Australia; Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; Panel Member, Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration; Member, Panel of Arbitrators, China maritime Arbitration Commission; Member of Editorial Board, Australian and New Zealand Maritime Law Journal; Member, European Union Erasmus Plus JMD Expert Team; Academic Assessor, Chevening Reading Committee.  He is admitted to legal practice in the High Courts of Australia and New Zealand and has practised in both countries, primarily in maritime, port, and fisheries law, and general commercial law.

Dr. Underdown has had academic appointments at universities in Australia and New Zealand and visiting academic appointments at universities in China and South Korea. He has been awarded research fellowships to work in China, Russia, South Korea and the United Kingdom. He has more than 90 publications and papers.

Dr. Underdown has had experience working for the United Nations Development Programme as head of a multilateral development project in Northeast Asia, as a Research Specialist on East Asia in the Parliamentary Research Service, Parliament of Australia and as a staff officer in the Australian Army.

He will teach International Business with an emphasis on international organization and political organization.

Mathias Mondo

Dr. Mathias Mondo has authored several books and scientific papers on management, and more specifically he is the author of the very well documented book “The 13 Keys of Success of Well-being at Work” [in French]. He received his Executive Doctorate in Business Administration from Paris Dauphine University, a Master’s in finance from HEC Paris, an MBA/EMBA from Université du Québec à Montréal and Paris Dauphine University and an Engineer’s degree from University Créteil in France. Beside his publications and research work, he is now also helping entrepreneurs in Cameroon for the Cameroon Government.

Dr. Mondo will organize a workshop on how to improve well-being at work and in the company, the benefits for organizations, as well as explain what the KPI are, as well as present the innovative technological tools that we can implement in order to do so.

André Faleiros

Originally from Brazil, André is first and foremost an electric bassist, who has played and recorded with various Quebec and Brazilian artists. He eventually co-founded the group Gaïa, with whom he recorded three albums and was nominated for a Juno. He toured with Cirque du Soleil’s Delirium in 2006, after which he produced and directed various music albums, in addition to composing for documentaries and web series. He became an Artistic Scout for Cirque du Soleil Casting in 2008, and since 2011 he has assumed the role of Head of the Talent Scouting team, allowing him to gain more experience in management, accounting and business strategies. Since 2010 he has given several conferences on leadership, innovation and organizational well-being, including a TEDx conference in Shanghai, China on recruitment as a tool for innovation.

André will organize a role-playing game on hiring talent that will be followed by a discussion on how to innovate in your hiring strategy in an environment where Human Resources are scarce.

Olivier Tourrette

Olivier Tourrette is an entrepreneur and Cheese Master. He is an expert on the cheese industry and has an impressive knowledge on the production of cheese, on the differences in taste, and on innovation and trade in this specific industry.

He comes from a family of cheese masters that owns several cheese stores, a restaurant, a cheese maturing cave and offers training activities for professionals.

During his workshop at the GHU, Olivier will help participants discover the differences in cheese flavors and what creates these differences and will offer a selection of cheeses with different breads and a glass of wine. The workshop will be followed by an interview on innovation and the international cheese business and will be concluded by a discussion on expertise theory by Prof. Dr. Stéphane Coudé. During this workshop, we will explain how experts can develop anticipatory capacities and how the entire program is designed to better help executives to develop their expertise in strategy.

Serge Ménard

Serge Menard holds a master’s degree in management as well as a bachelor’s degree in marketing.

He will give the workshop leadership and political aptitudes and work as a coach.

Suzanne Bernard

With more than twenty years of experience in human resources, Suzanne has held multiple senior-level positions in the areas of labor relations, training, international mobility, executive coaching, and compensation. Her mandates have often had an international dimension with a large scope and complexity. During her fifteen years at Bombardier Aerospace, Suzanne led large recruitment efforts and contributed to setting up organizations in India, China, Mexico, Cost Rica, and Morocco. She is the founder of a non-typical consulting firm specializing in executive team coaching and conflict resolution. Her approach reflects a genuine concern for people with a focus on enabling individuals to be their authentic self.

Suzanne Bernard holds a double diploma EMBA/MBA from Paris Dauphine University and Université du Québec in Montréal as well as a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations.

She will give the workshop on International HR stakes.

Alexandre Bouchard

Alexandre Bouchard is a young entrepreneur and founder of V3 Digital, a company specialized in B2B and social selling, with expertise on how to do B2B on LinkedIn. He is also the founder of Mobile U, a creative numeric collective. Prior his entrepreneurship orientation, Alexandre Bouchard worked in sales and marketing in companies such as Apple and KPMG.

During the GHU summer school, Alexandre will give a workshop on self-marketing and the benefits of self-marketing for your career and your organization. Prior the program, he will give an online training on how to create a post on LinkedIn and how to optimize the visibility of the post on LinkedIn. He will follow the results obtained by the students, present the results during his workshop in Curaçao and will animate his workshop on self-marketing on the last day of the summer school.

Alice Niyizurugero is a consultant and entrepreneur specialized in design thinking & user experience and has worked for clients such as L’Oréal, Moment Factory, Ubisoft, Rio Tinto, etc. She is/has an Engineer in Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering from ENSEA in France and holds a master’s degree in technology & Innovation from Paris Dauphine University, a master’s degree in international business from HEC Montreal and a specialization in Management of Creativity from HEC Montreal and Barcelona University.

Alice is a professional in the knowledge economy. From January 2014 to August 2016, her mission as a researcher at HEC Montreal and project manager of the HERITAGE project was to help Bombardier and other Montreal aerospace companies develop a management strategy to facilitate the transfer of tacit knowledge between baby boomers and new employees, and promote a culture of sharing within the Montreal aerospace cluster.

Since July 2016, she has been working with many private and public administrations as an expert in technology and innovation management. Specialized in design thinking and user experience research, her mission within knowledge-based industries is to facilitate a user-centered strategy and product development process that advocates for users’ needs and perspectives, locally and internationally. 

She will co-animate the workshop on Business Model Approach and Business Model Canvas, design thinking, developing new approaches, managing without strategy, etc.

Gilles Sénécal

Gilles Senecal has spent his career working for companies dealing in the Canadian Utility sector as well as for large industrial firms in the fields of Mining and Minerals and Pulp and Paper. Because of his distinctive qualities, he attracted the attention of larger equipment producers and eventually became Vice-President for Sales and Marketing for two important wire and cable manufacturers. In 1996, he took over a similar position with ABB, the Swiss-Swedish giant, specialized in electrical equipment manufacturing and engineering for production, transmission, and distribution of power.

During his several years spent in the industry, Gilles has left his footprint and has been widely acknowledged for his dedication to building and maintaining strong business relationships through personal involvement in various industry associations committees, such as EEMAC, CEA, CIGRE and others.

Since early 2005, Gilles has chosen to share his market experience and competencies with the partners of Globerpro International. Furthermore, during the period 2005-2016, Gilles’ professional skills contributed to Siemens Canada being recognized as a major supplier of strategic equipment to Hydro-Quebec.

Gilles will act as a coach to students before, during and after the summer school.
